Message from the Dean

Joon Weon CHOI

Together, Let’s Build an even Brighter Future Inspired by a Decade of Excellence

Hello, I am Joon Weon CHOI,
the Dean of the Graduate School of International Agricultural Technology (GSIAT) at Seoul National University.

Thank you for visiting the website of the Graduate School of International Agricultural Technology at Seoul National University.

It’s been almost 10 years since the Graduate School of International Agricultural Technology (GSIAT) welcomed its first cohort of students in September 2014 and started its education and research journey in the fields of green bio and agricultural life sciences. Over this time, GSIAT has firmly rooted itself at the Pyeongchang campus and emerged as strong organizational foundation achieving meaningful progress and produced numerous master and doctoral graduates. During this short journey, it accumulated research capabilities, generated persuasive intellectual property and gained international visibility through value added networking.

Now it’s time to strengthen the identity and values for the GSIAT in response to the demands of rapidly changing global scientific scenarios and equally to lead proactive changes that will drive sustainable growth on a global scale. To reach new heights of success, we will deepen both internal connections with the Institute of Green Bio Science and Technology (GBST) and, external networks to actively promote collaborative efforts with related colleges and research institutes at SNU. We also strive to contribute practically to solving local issues and share our academic knowledge and research outcomes for the mutual growth of the Pyeongchang region, positioning our school as a key driver of ‘Regional Balanced Development’.

Just as SNU’s emblematic tree, Zelkova serrata grows sturdier each year with new annual ring, we will continue to deepen its roots and expand its educational and research capabilities, providing broader shade through the achievements of the last 10 years. The interest and participation of all members of our family - faculty, staff, students, and incoming new students who will join us in the future - will lay the cornerstone for the new decade we will build together. We kindly ask for your continued support and encouragement.

Thank you.
